How often do people see you?
Session frequency is tailored to your needs and goals. Some clients come weekly, while others prefer bi-weekly, monthly, or as needed. We’ll talk during your consultation and revisit as things evolve. Frequency is shaped by:
• The intensity or severity of symptoms
• Your personal goals
• Scheduling availability and preferences
Are you a licensed psychologist, therapist, or social worker?
I am not a licensed physician or psychotherapist, and I do not practice psychotherapy or allopathic medicine.
I’m a somatic therapist with 25+ years of experience specializing in trauma and nervous system regulation. My work draws from advanced training in Somatic Experiencing®, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Hakomi, and other body-based modalities. I’m also a certified Feldenkrais® Practitioner, with a deep background in neuroplasticity and movement-based healing.
While I’m not licensed or traditionally degreed, my work is grounded in decades of clinical experience, advanced study, and ethical practice. I encourage clients to choose practitioners based on their needs, goals, and comfort. I’m happy to discuss whether my approach is the right fit for you.
How is somatic therapy different from traditional talk therapy (like CBT or DBT)?
Cognitive-based therapies focus on thoughts and behaviors. Somatic therapies work through the body to address the root of emotional and physical pain.
Instead of talking about your experience, we explore how it lives in your body—through sensation, posture, breath, and movement. This often allows for deeper access to unresolved trauma, chronic stress, and patterns that talk therapy may not fully reach.
Somatic work can be especially helpful for:
• PTSD and trauma-related symptoms
• Chronic pain
• Anxiety or depression
• Emotional overwhelm or dysregulation
• Feeling numb or disconnected from your body
I feel disconnected from my body and emotions. Can somatic therapy help?
Yes. Many people I work with feel stuck in their heads or emotionally disconnected. Somatic therapy offers a gentle, body-based path back to connection, presence, and self-awareness.
As we work together, you can expect to:
• Reduce anxiety and stress
• Deepen emotional awareness
• Improve relationships
• Feel more grounded and present
I draw from Somatic Experiencing®, Internal Family Systems, Feldenkrais®, and Hakomi to help you safely explore and shift your patterns at the nervous system level.
How long does it take to feel better?
It depends on the individual. The pace of healing varies based on:
• How long you’ve been experiencing symptoms
• The complexity of the issues
• Your level of engagement and support systems
Some people feel shifts early on, while others may need a longer process to unwind deeper patterns. We’ll reassess as we go and tailor the process to support sustainable change.
Can somatic therapy help even if I don’t remember specific trauma?
Yes. You don’t need to have clear or explicit memories. Trauma is often stored in the body as implicit memory—sensations, patterns, or responses that don’t have words or stories.
Through gentle body awareness and nervous system tracking, we can work with what’s happening now, which often leads to integration and resolution—even without recalling specific events.
